With more people spending time at home in 2020, The Carpet Chemist, a Louisville-based carpet, upholstery, furniture and floor cleaning brand, experienced a record sales year for the third straight year. Now, founder and CEO Brandon Cerrito has decided to franchise his business, eying 10 more locations in 2021 while starting to take claim of the $5b industry.
“We have worked diligently at perfecting our business model so that we could successfully onboard new franchise owners into our brand,” he said. “I spent the last 10 years learning all parts of the cleaning game – from being a Stanley Steamer employee, to working hard in the field, to starting The Carpet Chemist. I am excited to give people a pathway to franchise ownership.”
The Carpet Chemist has taken a methodical approach to becoming a franchise brand – including perfecting its brand – built around a trusting chemist of the carpet who can fix homeowner’s ugly sights – stains, tears and scratches.
The brand was founded in January of 2018 and has since serviced numerous customers throughout the Louisville market.
In 2021, the brand, through the leadership of Chief Development Officer Jason Markowicz, a former Massage Envy franchisee who is also a franchisor with Fitness Premier, will hunt for franchisee matches to join in the growth.
“I believe there is an advantage to me having been a franchisee and franchisor,” he said. “I know what it feels like to walk a day in their shoes. I know the level of support they are looking for. I know the challenges they face when starting a business. Armed with this knowledge I will not only make sure we are adding the right people to the franchise family, but also people who have grit and mindset to win.”
The cost to open The Carpet Chemist is $77,000 – $109,000, which includes the leasing of a van and the initial franchise fee. Franchise owners will work out of their homes.
